AK Judge Denies Producer Appeal on Point Thompson

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she is pleased that the Superior Court of Alaska has denied a motion filed by Point Thomson leaseholders ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron and ConocoPhillips for a stay that would have allowed them to retain leases while they fight the state’s earlier decision to take the leases back after the companies have failed for years to develop the North Slope field.

Calypso Seeks Rehearing to Tie In With Deepwater LNG Port

Calypso U.S. Pipeline LLC, a subsidiary of SUEZ Energy North America Inc., has asked FERC to reconsider a January order that denied Calypso’s request to begin construction of the U.S leg of an offshore pipeline before an affiliate has received regulatory approval to build an associated liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Bahamas and a connecting Bahamian offshore pipeline. Calypso is seeking rehearing so that it can interconnect with affiliate Calypso LNG LLC’s proposed deepwater LNG port.

NAFTA Panel Calls for Probe of Mexico’s OK of Chevron LNG Project

The Secretariat of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, a tri-national commission set up under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), has denied a request by Mexico to suspend an investigation into whether the country violated its own laws when it approved a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal next to a biodiversity hotspot on the U.S. border.

The long-stalled Islander East Pipeline suffered a recent setback when a Connecticut agency denied — for a second time — the proposed Connecticut-to-Long Island pipeline’s request for a water quality permit. Islander East promptly petitioned the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York. to review and reject the state’s decision.

In a key victory for Northern Natural Gas shippers, FERC has denied the interstate natural gas pipeline’s request to sell its West Hugoton gas pipeline facilities in Kansas and Oklahoma to a Midland, TX-based energy company.
