Fading Weather Demand Forces All Points Lower

Spring is busting out all over — finally — and that translates to lower spot prices. Quotes fell across the board Thursday; a few drops were in single digits, but the rest were fairly consistent in all regions in ranging from a dime to just over 20 cents.

Deutsche Bank, Wachovia Expand Presence in U.S. Gas Market

Demand for creditworthy counterparties and experienced risk management services has prompted Deutsche Bank AG and Wachovia Corp. to enter the U.S. natural gas trading and risk management business. Deutsche Bank reported last week that it hired a former El Paso Merchant Energy trading official and several additional gas trading professionals to anchor its operation.

Prices Fall on Low Holiday and Weather Demand

Only a day after spiking on the basis of much colder weather that was still several days away, prices retreated Wednesday despite forecasts that parts of the U.S. and Canada would be caught up in sub-freezing temperatures before traders returned to their offices this week. The market did not give back as much as it had gained Tuesday, as losses tended to range from about a nickel to 40 cents.
