Questar Pipeline has filed an application at FERC to build its Southern System Expansion II that would bolster westbound deliveries of Rocky Mountain natural gas to Goshen, UT, where the pipe interconnects with the Wyoming-to-California Kern River Gas Transmission system.

Gazprom Opens Houston Office to Market LNG

Gazprom, the Russian national oil company, has announced it is setting up a Houston office to further its business of LNG (liquefied natural gas) deliveries to the United States. The subsidiary, Gazprom Marketing and Trading USA (GMT USA), is an offshoot of its British group, Gazprom Marketing and Trading Ltd.

Five LNG Projects Receive FERC Approval

The East and Gulf Coasts could receive as much as 9.7 Bcf/d in new LNG deliveries from five projects, including two expansions and three new LNG import terminals, that were approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in its regular meeting Thursday.

Transportation Notes

El Paso plans to shut down Plains Station June 13-14 for annual Department of Transportation-mandated inspections. There will be no deliveries to the IW40-043, INN26PLA and INN30PLA interconnects at Plains on those days: Flow north from Plains will be reduced by 100 MMcf/d from a base capacity of 330 MMcf/d, El Paso said, and IMUSTANG will be shut in on June 13 while transmitters at the interconnect are replaced.

Without actually issuing a Type 6 OFO, Southern Natural Gas said Friday that based on current receipts and projected deliveries, one was “too close to call” for long imbalances Saturday and Sunday. It noted that its tariff “provides that a Type 6 OFO can be implemented on four hours notice or less depending on the situation.”

Maritimes & Northeast (M&N) deliveries into Tennessee at Dracut, MA were cut to zero for the gas days of Thursday and Friday and presumably will remain that way into the weekend due to processing problems at the Goldboro Gas Plant in Halifax, NS. Alan Jeffers of ExxonMobil Canada, the operator of Sable Offshore Energy Project (SOEP), said SOEP supplies into M&N had been reduced about 40% to 245 MMcf/d (from 400 MMcf/d normally). “Goldboro hopes to have the problem resolved in the next several days,” Jeffers said. A Northeast marketer said he understood Goldboro was having problems with its glycol processes, but Jeffers was unable to confirm that.
