Energy Solutions Bought by Danes

Houston-based Energy Solutions Inc. (ESI), the developer of gasand risk management software GASMAN, has been acquired byLICENERGY of Denmark. The deal is intended to create a company witha larger market presence in the transaction management andconsulting arena. Energy Solutions will be renamed Energy SolutionsInternational.

Oil, Gas Industries are Y2K A-OK

The majority of the oil and gas industry – 94% – report theircomputer systems will be ready by Sept. 30th to deal with anyglitches that may be brought about by the change to a newmillennium, according to the latest survey conducted by the NaturalGas Council and the American Petroleum Institute (API). The entireindustry expects to be Y2K ready by the end of December.

CMP Natural Inks Gas Delivery Deal with Calpine

CMP Natural Gas (CMPNG) said it has signed a long-term contract to deliver gas on a proposed pipeline lateral to a 540 MW gas-fired power plant being built in Westbrook, ME, by Calpine Corp. Construction of the $200 million electric generating facility is under way and Calpine said it will require gas service by June 1, 2000.

Bay State Avoids Bypass, Inks Deal with Muni

Bay State Gas avoided a significant bypass by the MassachusettsMunicipal Wholesale Electric Co. (MMWEC) thanks to landowneropposition to a larger pipeline proposal and a lengthy negotiationprocess. After two years of work on an alternative 15-mile bypassof the Bay State system that would have linked with Tennessee GasPipe Line, MMWEC yesterday signed a 20-year agreement covering 13Bcf/year of new gas transportation on Bay State’s system to servepower generation load.

OK Attorney General Challenges OCC-Oneok Deal

Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson is appealing the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s (OCC) preliminary approval of a stipulation agreement between the OCC and Oneok (parent of Oklahoma Natural Gas). The agreement consolidates two ongoing rate cases and provides for an interim rate reduction for Oklahoma customers of ONG and Kansas Gas Service of $5 million per year beginning in September. The attorney general maintains a larger rate reduction may be in order.
