Modest Rise in Heating Load Boosts Most Points

The market was marginally stronger Tuesday as forecasts of Midwestern lows not far above freezing joined sub-freezing predictions for the Rockies and much of Western Canada in creating extra heating load. Overall temperatures, however, were expected to get no lower than chilly (40s) in most areas, and thus flat to higher numbers only modestly outnumbered losses.

Oregon Governor Creates Energy Planning Council

In a region conflicted between its past and future energy scenarios, Oregon’s Gov. Ted Kulongoski has signed an executive order creating the Oregon Energy Planning Council to sort through a complex set of strategies involving new natural gas sources, more renewable-based electricity and a greater reliance on energy efficiency and conservation.
