TransCanada Files KeyStone Oil Pipe Plans, Awaits Ruling on Gas Line Conversion

While waiting on a ruling from the National Energy Board (NEB) on plans to convert part of its gas pipeline system to transport oil, TransCanada Corp. moved ahead with an application last week for construction of the Canadian portion of the Keystone oil pipeline, which would includes the coverted line. TransCanada expects the new pipeline system, which would transport crude oil from Hardisty, AB, to refineries in the U.S. Midwest, to be placed in service in late 2009.

Enterprise Tests Market for 10 Bcf Mont Belvieu Gas Storage Project

Enterprise Products Partners LP said Wednesday it’s planning to convert an existing natural gas liquids salt dome storage field in Mont Belvieu, TX, into a 10 Bcf natural gas storage operation. The project, which joins a rapidly growing list of domestic gas storage projects, would include pipeline interconnects with Enterprise Texas Pipeline, Enterprise Texas Intrastate (Channel), Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline and Texas Eastern Transmission.

Enterprise Products Partners LP said Wednesday it’s planning to convert an existing natural gas liquids salt dome storage field in Mont Belvieu, TX, into a 10 Bcf natural gas storage operation. The project, which is among more than a dozen proposed gas storage fields that have been announced in the last few years, would include pipeline interconnects with Enterprise Texas Pipeline, Enterprise Texas Intrastate (Channel), Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline and Texas Eastern Transmission.

TransCanada Proposes Converting, Extending Gas Pipeline Loop to Carry Heavy Oil

TransCanada Corp., the main Canadian natural gas pipeline operator, is looking to move into the oil pipeline business, announcing Wednesday a proposal to convert a 770-mile loop of its natural gas mainline to transport oil and to add on a 1,100-mile extension to Illinois. The $1.7 billion Keystone Pipeline project would transport growing oilsands production in northern Alberta.
