Long-Term Newfoundland and Labrador Energy Strategy Unveiled

The government of Newfoundland and Labrador released its first-ever energy plan on Tuesday, a comprehensive strategy that will allow the province to become a “significant” player in the oil and natural gas business over the coming years. Among other things, the province plans to take a 10% equity stake in some oil and natural gas projects, and it is proposing a new natural gas royalty regime.

Baseline Performance, Costs for Fossil Fuel Plants Detailed by DOE

Business Roundtable, an association of 150 CEOs of some of the largest U.S. corporations, has unveiled a comprehensive energy plan calling for a more diversified and domestic-based energy supply mix, increased energy efficiency and more investment in new technology. Among other things, the CEOs want expanded access to oil and natural gas supplies in the Rocky Mountains, the U.S. coasts and Alaska, as well as increased nuclear power supplies.

Avista to Expand Demand Response Programs

Spokane, WA-based Avista Utilities last Thursday announced it plans to launch what it called a “comprehensive and innovative” demand response program for all of its electric and natural gas utility customers in three states, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The program will take a multi-faceted approach to energy efficiency.
