House Panel Urges Development of ‘Template’ to Get LNG Projects to Market Quickly

Rep. Doug Ose (R-CA), chairman of the House Government Reform Committee’s subcommittee on energy policy, recommended last Tuesday that FERC and the U.S. Coast Guard develop a “programmatic template” so that companies interested in developing liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects would know exactly what is required of them to achieve agency approval and swift processing. He also supported the concept of the Commission picking the most preferable sites for the location of onshore LNG facilities.

The Committee of Chief Risk Officers (CCRO), which was formed in 2002 to establish bottom-line standards for energy traders, plans by this summer to establish a best practice financial framework to serve as the foundation for the Standard & Poor’s (S&P) quarterly request for financial data.

The Market Price Reporting Action Committee (MPRAC), an ad hoc group of about 40 gas and power industry companies, exchanges, trade associations and price index developers, told FERC last week that it is disbanding because it has completed its mission of analyzing the current gas and power price reporting system and reporting the results to the Commission.
