FERC has given final environmental clearance to Cheniere Energy’s proposed import liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and associated pipeline facilities in Corpus Christi, TX, putting them one step away from being approved.

Cheniere Energy said Thursday that FERC has given its wholly-owned limited partnership, Sabine Pass LNG LP (Sabine), clearance to begin construction on what will be the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in North America when it begins commercial operations in 2008.

FERC in cooperation with five other federal agencies gave draft environmental clearance to BP Energy affiliate Crown Landing LLC’s proposed 1.2 Bcf/d liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal to be built along the Delaware River in Logan Township, NJ. Texas Eastern Transmission’s (Tetco) proposed lateral that would connect with the LNG project also received preliminary environmental approval.

FERC staff has given environmental clearance to Gulf South Pipeline Co. LP to construct three new injection/withdrawal wells and 2.37 miles of associated pipeline at its Jackson Gas Storage facility in Rankin County, MS.

FERC last Wednesday gave environmental clearance for Caledonia Energy Partners to convert a nearly depleted natural gas reservoir in Monroe and Lowndes counties, MS, into a high-deliverability, multi-cycle storage field with the capacity to store 11.7 Bcf of working gas.
