Swift Energy Co. agreed to sell its interests in six fields in South Louisiana, two in Texas and one in Alabama to an undisclosed private oil and gas company for $53.5 million. Swift said it would use the proceeds to fund a portion its 2011 capital expenditures. Production attributable to the fields being sold averaged 10.6 MMcfe/d during 1Q2011 with aggregate proved reserves of 92.2 Bcfe (19% proved developed producing and 65% natural gas) at year-end 2010. The sale is expected to close within the next two months.

Marcellus Activity Keeps Rising

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued 262 permits for Marcellus Shale drilling and operators reported drilling 154 wells into the formation in June, according to information released Monday.

FERC OKs Duke Plan to Ship Gas to Indiana Power Plant

FERC has granted Duke Energy Indiana certificates authorizing the company to construct and operate a pipeline across the border from Kentucky to Indiana to move natural gas to a coal-fired plant that Duke previously agreed to convert to gas-fired boilers.

Southern California Gas said it regained a total of 340 MMcf/d of receipt capacity Wednesday at its Topock, AZ, border interconnects with El Paso and Transwestern following completion of anomaly repairs on Line 3000 that had required a reduction in line pressure. The work had begun Nov. 10.
