Citing “inclement weather in the Gulf of Mexico,” Tennessee canceled the quarterly pigging of the Header and East Leg segments of the Blue Water System offshore Louisiana that had been Monday through Thursday this week (see Daily GPI, Sept. 6). The next quarterly pigging is scheduled for Nov. 11-14.

Agreeing that Georgia’s natural gas deregulation program is flawed but not foundering, a Blue Ribbon Natural Gas Task Force empowered by Gov. Roy Barnes recommended last week that the state not give up on the more than three year-old initiative. Instead, the group decided on a list of proposals to reform the program, including the reinstitution of a single regulated marketer.

Almost a month after its preliminary recommendations were agreed upon, the Blue Ribbon Natural Gas Task Force delivered to Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes last week a 35-page final report outlining its proposals for fixing the natural gas system in the state. As expected, the final report proposed the reinstallation of a regulated supplier into the current mix of unregulated retail marketers instead of returning to a monopoly structure (see NGI, Jan. 14).
