GA Governor Acts on Behalf of Disconnected Gas Customers

With 42,000 Georgia retail gas customers still disconnected from service (down from 200,000 eligible for disconnection last spring) mainly because of unpaid bills, Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes has asked the state’s Consumers’ Utility Counsel to file a request that the state Public Service Commission (PSC) designate a provider of last resort (POLR) before the winter begins. Barnes also has appointed a task force to look into problems in Georgia’s gas market.

Piedmont Reaffirms Support of SouthStar Venture

Piedmont Natural Gas said Monday it is not a party to the lawsuit filed by AGL Resources on behalf of gas marketer SouthStar Energy Services LLC against Dynegy Marketing and Trade. Piedmont (30%), AGL (50%) and Dynegy (20%) are partners in Southstar, which operates in Georgia under the trade name of Georgia Natural Gas Services.

Dynegy Marketing Sued by Georgia Natural Gas Co.

Atlanta-based Georgia Natural Gas Co.(GNGC) has filed a complaint on behalf of SouthStar Energy Services LLC in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court to compel Dynegy Marketing and Trade to provide a “full and fair accounting” of its activities as the asset manager for SouthStar. The lawsuit alleges that Dynegy, despite “repeated requests,” has failed to provide necessary documentation and records of purchase and sales transactions.
