NorthernStar Appeals to Court on Oregon Land-Use Roadblock

The backers of the Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, NorthernStar Natural Gas Corp., filed Thursday in the Oregon Court of Appeals, challenging a decision earlier in April by the Oregon Land-Use Board of Appeals (LUBA). NorthernStar is concerned about two issues that were remanded back to the local county commission where it is seeking to develop its LNG receiving facility.

Midcontinent Express Gets FERC Nod, Moves to Expand

Just days after FERC approved the mammoth pipeline project, backers of the Midcontinent Express Pipeline, which would give shale producers in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma access to southern and eastern markets, last Tuesday announced that they had completed a successful binding open season for a 300,000 Dth/d expansion of a portion of the planned system.

California Gas Storage Project Applies at FERC

Having launched a nonbinding open season in early June, the backers of the proposed Tricor Ten Section Hub LLC underground natural gas storage project in California filed an application with FERC Tuesday, seeking a certificate for their project by February. They seek to operate a high-deliverability, multi-cycle storage facility in Kern County, 10 miles southwest of Bakersfield.

Backers for the first of three proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals in Oregon to get a conditioned FERC approval, Bradwood Landing, are keeping a close eye on a Delaware LNG decision in March by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit that rejected a challenge to a similar conditioned approval of the Crown Landing LLC LNG project. Whether it is having any effect on Oregon officials is not clear.
