ICE Continues to Grow; Posts Record Volumes, Commissions in August

During a month that saw high volatility, Atlanta-based IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) reported record activity on its online marketplace during the month of August. Average daily volume (ADV) for ICE futures, its London-based regulated futures subsidiary, totaled 406,037 contracts for an eighth consecutive monthly record, an increase of 115.1% over August 2005’s 188,757 contracts.

ICE Improves NYC Trading Connectivity, Reports Gas Oil Volume Record

In an effort to improve access and reduce connectivity costs to its electronic energy trading platform, Atlanta, GA-based IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) reported Wednesday it has opened a new telecommunications hub for the New York City metropolitan area. The company also reported that the exchange posted record Gas Oil (heating oil) volumes on Monday.

Nymex, ICE See Huge Increases in Annual Net Income

As the battle for energy trading supremacy continues to heat up, both Nymex Holdings Inc., the holding company of the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex), and Atlanta, GA-based IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) both reported strong earnings increases over 2004. The head-to-head competition for energy trading market share has increased over the past year (see Daily GPI, Feb. 16).

AGL Seeks Storage Service Bids at Jefferson Island Storage & Hub

Due to expiring contracts, Atlanta-based AGL Resources announced Tuesday it is soliciting bids for firm and interruptible natural gas storage services that will be available in early 2006 at the company’s Pivotal Energy Development Jefferson Island Storage & Hub (JISH), a salt cavern storage facility in Louisiana.

Georgia PSC Agrees to Reconsider AGL Rate Cut

The Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC) voted 4-1 Tuesday to reconsider its order in April that freezes Atlanta Gas Light Co.’s residential rates, sharply reducing its annual revenues.
