Arizona’s regulatory commission last week pre-approved Arizona Public Service (APS) request to get close to half of its future natural gas supplies from the proposed Kinder Morgan Silver Canyon interstate transmission pipeline, which will bring gas from New Mexico’s San Juan Basin and from the northern Rockies via a connection with TransColorado Gas Transmission.

Federal Pipeline Safety Unit Allows Unlimited AZ Inspections on Kinder Morgan Lines

Storage Non-Event Allows Bulls to Take Profit

Following the announcement of a 72 Bcf storage injection, the June natural gas futures contract jumped 9 cents from $6.27 to trade at $6.36 as of 10:39 a.m, revisiting the high set on Tuesday. However, the contract then worked lower for the entire afternoon, trading within the $6.19-6.29 range, before settling at $6.219, down 9.1 cents on the day.

Montana Judge Allows Wyoming, Producer Intervenors in Suit Against BLM Decision

A district court judge in Montana has ruled that the state of Wyoming and various producers may intervene in support of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, which is defending its major environmental impact statements (EIS) and decisions earlier this year allowing a massive increase in coalbed methane drilling in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming and Montana (see Daily GPI, May 5).

The United States Bankruptcy Court in New York has approved the sale of two of Enron North America’s gas purchase agreements to Occidental Energy Marketing, Inc. (Oxy), which will assume responsibility for supply agreements with Peoples Energy utility subsidiaries The Peoples Gas Light and Coke Co. and North Shore Gas effective April 1.
