Industry Brief

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC has filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to expand its system to provide 225,000 Dth/d to customers in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. The Mid-South Expansion Project is expected to be built in two phases. Phase 1 will provide 95,000 Dth/d of supply by Sept. 1, 2012; and Phase 2 will provide an additional 130,000 Dth/d by a target date of June 1, 2013. Transco said it has entered into binding precedent agreements for 100% of the increment firm transportation service to be provided by the project (see Daily GPI, May 27). The project, which Transco said would cost $216 million, involves the construction of 22.6 miles of pipeline looping on Transco’s existing mainline; a new 32,000 hp compressor station; 15,780 hp of additional compression at three existing compressor stations; and association facilities.
