Allegheny Energy Inc. announced Friday it had completed the sale of its West Virginia natural gas operations to Mountaineer Gas Holdings, a partnership composed of IGS Utilities and affiliates of ArcLight Capital Partners. Cash proceeds received by Allegheny at closing were $161 million. The buyer has also assumed $87 million of the company’s debt. Allegheny’s natural gas operations include Mountaineer Gas Company, Mountaineer Gas Services and West Virginia Power Gas Services. Effective Oct. 1, all of these utilities will begin to do business as Mountaineer Gas.

FERC last Wednesday awarded Cheniere Energy affiliates authorization to build a 2.6 Bcf/d liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal and associated pipeline facilities in Corpus Christi, TX. It also approved an amendment to Sempra’s Cameron LNG certificate to expand its berthing facilities in Louisiana to handle the next generation of larger LNG tankers.

FERC Approves Third Cheniere LNG Terminal; Sempra Cameron Site Draws Action

FERC on Wednesday awarded Cheniere Energy affiliates authorization to build a 2.6 Bcf/d liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal and associated pipeline facilities in Corpus Christi, TX. It also approved an amendment to Sempra’s Cameron LNG certificate to modify its berths to handle the next generation of larger LNG tankers [CP02-378]. Sempra’s terminal is being built in Cameron Parish, LA.
