In natural gas, Texans have no monopoly on thinking big. When prices make a comeback Canadians — including affiliates of international producers with high profiles in the Lone Star State — say they will be ready to launch the next generation of supplies on a scale deserving to rate as large by any standard.

Affiliates Algonquin and Texas Eastern both reported “limited operational flexibility to manage imbalances” Thursday, and along with a request that shippers and point operators adhere to scheduled volumes, they said effective Friday no nominations for due-pipe imbalance makeups or that create due-shipper imbalances will be allowed. This restriction will remain in effect through Monday, the pipelines said.

Enterprise Products Partners LP last Thursday said its affiliates have signed new long-term agreements with major Barnett Shale producers for 900 MMcf/d of capacity on its 1.1 Bcf/d Sherman Extension pipeline, which is due to go into operation in the fourth quarter. The Houston-based energy company also announced plans to build a lateral to increase takeaway capacity from the Barnett Shale region.

Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners LP (ETP) and several affiliates, including Oasis Pipeline LP, last Tuesday requested expedited rehearing and a stay of FERC’s May order setting for hearing charges that they manipulated the physical natural gas prices at the Houston Ship Channel and Waha trading hub on various dates from December 2003 through December 2005 (see NGI, May 19).
