Marcellus-to-Midwest Project Mulled by Texas Eastern

Spectra Energy’s Texas Eastern Transmission LP is holding a nonbinding open season through July 31 for firm capacity on its Uniontown to Gas City (U2GC) Expansion Project, which offers shippers a new firm path from the Marcellus Shale in west Uniontown, PA, to the pipeline’s existing interconnect with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline near Gas City, IN.

Cabot Forms Pearsall Shale JV with Osaka Gas Unit

Cabot Oil & Gas has struck an agreement with a U.S. unit of Osaka Gas Co. Ltd. for the sale of a 35% nonoperated working interest in the Pearsall Shale in 50,000 net acres leased by the company in Atascosa, Frio, La Salle and Zavala counties in Texas for $250 million.

NGL Price Weakness Seen Continuing

Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services (S&P) has revised its natural gas liquids (NGL) pricing assumptions for 2012, 2013 and 2014. And analysts at Wells Fargo Securities last week warned that some might be caught off guard by continuing weakness in the sector.

TransCanada Files Again for Keystone XL Permit

TransCanada Corp. has submitted a presidential permit application to the U.S. Department of State (DOS) for the Keystone XL Pipeline from the U.S.-Canada border in Montana to Steele City, NE. The company said it will supplement that application with an alternative route in Nebraska as soon as that route is selected.

TransCanada Seeks 2013 Startup for First Phase of Keystone Pipeline

A two-phase approach to the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada to U.S. Gulf Coast refineries should result in a new line from Oklahoma to the Gulf being in place sometime next year, with the XL phase from Canada to Nebraska following by early 2015, the CEO of the project’s sponsor, TransCanada Corp., said Friday. The latter is the only part of the project now requiring a federal Presidential Permit from the U.S. State Department.

BP Gains Entry into Ohio Shale Play

The Houston-based arm of energy giant BP plc Tuesday said it was leasing thousands of acres in a yet-to-be explored area of northeastern Ohio’s Utica/Point Pleasant Shale formation near the Pennsylvania border for future natural gas and oil production.
