Spire Energy Inc.’s storage arm has added to its fleet with the $37 million purchase of Salt Plains Storage LLC in Oklahoma, part of a broader strategy to expand the midstream position.

The 10 Bcf Spire Storage Salt Plains facility in Manchester is near Oklahoma’s border with Kansas in Grant County. It connects to Southern Star Pipeline and Oneok Gas Transmission via a 12.5-mile, 16-inch diameter header. Equipped with 10,000 hp of compression and 30 storage wells, Salt Plains has a peak withdrawal rate of 150 MMcf/d and a peak injection rate of 115 MMcf/d.
