Offshore energy companies are shoring up their strategies beyond oil and natural gas by extending their expertise into new energies like wind as they junk carbon emissions and hew to investor demands, an expert panel said Monday.

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2021, an energy confab traditionally focused on oil and gas, opened the doors on Monday at Houston’s NRG Center recentered around new energies and lower emissions. Canceled last year because of Covid-19, the hybrid OTC this year welcomed delegates in person and virtually.
