Prompt month natural gas futures limped into expiration on Thursday, as traders weighed a light storage print against benign near-term weather and expectations for a return to relatively stout injections in coming weeks.

The November Nymex gas futures contract shed 42.0 cents day/day and settled at $5.186 before rolling off the board. The December contract, which takes over the front month on Friday, fell 24.4 cents to $5.875.

NGI’s Spot Gas National Avg. inched ahead 5.5 cents to $4.700.
