The natural gas and electric industries have more work ahead to find common ground on how best to tackle reliability issues that emerged during recent winters, the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) told FERC in a recent report.

Interoperability between the natural gas and electric operators is more important than ever, though differing perspectives between the two industries could hamper efforts to mitigate problems exposed during recent extreme winter weather events, according to the findings of NAESB’s Gas-Electric Harmonization (GEH) Forum.

The GEH Forum’s findings were detailed in a report filed late last week with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
