Lone Cypress Energy Services LLC and Proton Green LLC announced a partnership to jointly launch a helium exploration and carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project in the southwestern United States. 

Lone Cypress, an independent energy infrastructure developer, plans to begin the project with a helium drilling program near Proton Green’s St. Johns Gas Unit in Apache County, AZ. Once the helium gas processing facility is fully operational, Lone Cypress expects to begin construction on the carbon capture system. 

Pending permit approval, Proton Green could sequester emissions in a geologic formation within the St. Johns field with a storage capacity of more than 1 billion metric tons.
