Mexico’s transmission lines and electric power grid are insufficient to meet growing power demand across the country and require new investment, Edith Rojo Zazueta, an industrial engineer who worked previously at Mexico’s Comision Reguladora de Energia (CRE) told NGI’s Mexico GPI. 

During her time at the CRE from 2021 to August of this year, Rojo served as the regulatory body’s operations and electricity permits director. In her role, she led an interdisciplinary team that managed the supervision of more than 1,270 power generation permits, oversaw  compliance to meet permitted obligations, and ensured the stability and security of the national power grid.
