Improved Environmental Practices Would Benefit Mexico Energy Financing, Says former ASEA Head  

“The entire energy industry — including the electricity and oil industry — is capital intensive,” Carlos de Regules Ruíz-Funes, expert in the Mexican energy industry and former Executive Director of the National Agency for Safety, Energy and Environment of Mexico (ASEA), told NGI Mexico’s GPI. 

“Access to that capital requires meeting higher environmental standards and demands for the projects that receive financing and capital investments,” he said. “And in Mexico, it seems to me that the industry still needs to close that gap that separates it from where it is now to the place it needs to get to meet the demands and standards of what is required by the capital market.”
