Weekly natural gas cash prices regained momentum amid scorching temperatures and strong cooling demand across much of the Lower 48.

NGI’s Weekly Spot Gas National Avg. for the July 10-14 period advanced 2.5 cents to $2.420. The average had slipped 23.5 cents the prior week to end a month-long rally.

Weather during the past week ripened for elevated consumption of natural gas and physical market price support followed. Temperatures soared from the 90s into the 100s across Texas, the Southwest and parts of California. Stretches of the East also saw highs in the 90s.

“The demand has arrived,” Steve Blair, Marex North America LLC’s senior account executive, told NGI.
