The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Thursday reported a withdrawal of 139 Bcf natural gas from storage for the week ended Feb. 25. The result was essentially in line with market expectations and had little immediate influence on Nymex natural gas futures.

“It was colder than normal over the western two thirds of the U.S., while warmer than normal over the East,” NatGasWeather said of temperatures during the latest report period.

Utilities withdrew 132 Bcf from storage in the year-earlier period, and the five-year average was a withdrawal of 98 Bcf.
