Columbia Gas Transmission supplemented the Millennium Pipeline project application (Docket No. CP98-151-000) at FERC last week with details of its proposed abandonment of the Milford Compressor Station and more than 200 miles of pipeline that make up most of its A-5 line in New York.

About 126 miles of pipeline and the compressor station will be conveyed to Millennium and the remaining abandoned pipe will be removed and replaced with new Millennium line. Columbia also plans to install several overpressurization protection devices at certain connections with Millennium, which will operate a higher maximum pressures than Columbia.

Columbia told the Commission it plans to sign a lease agreement with Millennium whereby it will use about 14,000 Dth/d of Millennium capacity to serve the customers who currently utilize the A-5 line.

Millennium is a $650-million gas pipeline that would extend 400 miles from a connection with TransCanada at the international border in the middle of Lake Erie to New York City. The line would ship up to 700 MMcf/d of gas for nine customers. Rocco Canonica
