Briefs -- Aliso Canyon Leak | ExxonMobil

Southern California Gas Co.reported a brief surge of elevated methane emissions occurred during maintenance work to upgrade two compressors at the Aliso Canyon underground storage facility. Operators noted an increase in methane levels on two fence-line monitors along the border of the 3,600-acre storage field and adjacent community. The Sempra Energy utility said it notified authorities; the leak was not considered a threat to health or safety.

ExxonMobil Corp.has tapped Neil Chapman, 55, now president of ExxonMobil Chemical Co., as senior vice president (SVP) and a member of the corporation’s management committee. SVP John Verity, 59, who now runs the polymers unit, will succeed Chapman as president of the chemical unit. ExxonMobil also is combining the refining and marketing operations into a single company, ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants Co., during 1Q2018. Bryan Milton, 53, president of one of the units to be combined, ExxonMobil Fuels, Lubricants & Specialties Marketing Co., has been appointed president.
