Canadian overseas sales of natural gas liquids (NGL) are poised to grow after AltaGas Ltd. and Dutch storage tank supplier Royal Vopak negotiated an expansion venture for a northeastern British Columbia (BC) shipping site near Prince Rupert.

Calgary-based AltaGas said the planned addition, the Ridley Island Energy Export Facility, would include a bulk liquids terminal and marine structures on a 190-acre site. Federal and provincial government permits have been granted.

The project would be owned 50-50 and increase sales from the AltaGas Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal on the northern BC coast and a U.S. port in Ferndale, WA.
