The U.S. natural gas rig count climbed three units to reach 127 during the week ended Friday (Feb. 25), driven by further activity increases in the Haynesville Shale, according to the latest tally from Baker Hughes Co. (BKR).

Two oil-directed rigs were also added in the United States for the week. That left the combined domestic tally up five rigs to 650, nearly 250 units ahead of its year-earlier count of 402, according to the BKR numbers, which are based partly on data from Enverus.

Land drilling increased by five units in the United States, while the Gulf of Mexico count remained unchanged at 12. Four horizontal units were added alongside one vertical rig, with directional units unchanged week/week.
