PG&E Marks Milestone in Pipeline Safety Improvements

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) has checked off the 10th of 12 recommendations from federal regulators leveled at the combination utility four years ago after the San Bruno natural gas transmission pipeline explosion and other shortcomings exposed in its gas operations.

U.S., Canada Recommend Tougher Crude Rail Standards

In tandem with its counterpart regulators in Canada, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Thursday issued a series of recommendations calling for tougher standards for rail shipments of crude oil in both nations. NTSB and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada issued the recommendations jointly in recognition that the same companies operate crude rail trains in both nations, frequently crossing the U.S.-Canada border.

PG&E Disputed Pipe Lateral Gets Regulator Approval

Pacific Gas and Electric Co.’s (PG&E) natural gas system received some positive feedback from federal and state regulators Monday, including the approval to boost the operating pressure on a controversial 3.8-mile transmission pipeline lateral on the San Francisco Peninsula south of the city.
