Williams completed and placed into service the first phase ofits Mobile Bay Expansion and Extension project to bring anadditional 350 MMcf/d of gas from East Main Pass Block 261 onshoreto Transco compressor station 82 in Coden, AL. “We have madeexcellent progress completing the first phase of this importantproject,” said Frank Ferazzi, vice president of customer serviceand rates for Williams’ Transco.

The existing 30-inch, 123-mile Mobile Bay Lateral extends froman interconnection with the Transco mainline near Butler, AL, tocompressor station 82 near Coden, AL. Phase one of the projectincludes a 76-mile offshore extension, which consists of about 19miles of 30-inch and 57 miles of 24-inch pipe and has a capacity of350 MMcf/d. The 30-inch line extends from Station 82 to a junctionplatform at Mobile Bay Block 822. The 24-inch line extends from thejunction platform to East Main Pass Block 261 near the edge of theouter continental shelf.

Phase one provides 350 MMcf/d from the OCS to Station 82 and 214MMcf/d onshore from Station 82 to Transco’s mainline near Butler,AL. Phase two will provide an additional 136 MMcf/d of onshorecapacity in November. Upon completion of both phases, the projectwill transport 350 MMcf/d from the OCS to the Transco mainline andincrease Transco’s share of capacity on the existing lateral from520 MMcf/d to 784 MMcf/d. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commissionapproved rolled-in rate treatment for the project.
