Weather Outlook Little Changed as Natural Gas Futures Trade Close to Even Early

With little change to the temperature outlook in the latest round of forecast data, natural gas futures hovered close to even in early trading Tuesday. The May Nymex contract was up 0.1 cents to $2.654/MMBtu at around 8:45 a.m. ET.

There were no major changes in the overnight weather data, according to NatGasWeather.

Both the American and European models continued to predict “a surge in national demand late this week as a frosty cold shot sweeps across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast with lows of 10s to 30s,” the firm said. “However, the overnight data maintained an exceptionally bearish pattern” for late this weekend through next week, when most of the country is expected to experience “near to warmer than normal” temperatures except for the West Coast and...
