U.S. crude oil exports hit an all-time high last year of 3.6 million b/d amid upheaval in global energy markets, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

EIA said U.S. oil exports increased by 22% year/year, or 640,000 b/d, in 2022. 

An increase in U.S. crude production, releases from the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve and higher global demand following Western sanctions on Russian crude helped U.S. oil exports hit their highest levels since 1920, when data was first collected.
