European natural gas prices rebounded on Tuesday amid colder weather and signs that cheaper LNG cargoes have brought some Asian buyers back to the market.

The prompt Title Transfer Facility (TTF) contract finished at nearly $19/MMBtu after falling to $17.522 on Monday. It was a rare gain after weeks of losses that have pushed the benchmark to its lowest level since September 2021 thanks in large part to mild weather and ample liquefied natural gas deliveries. 

Price-sensitive buyers in India and Thailand are reportedly on the hunt for spot cargoes, while some Australian projects have a surplus of volumes on offer.
