Trigen to Develop Savings For Kodak
Trigen-Cinergy Solutions (TCS) signed a 20-year energy servicescontract with Eastman Kodak Co. to serve Kodak Park. The 1,300-acrecampus, with 160 major buildings, is in Rochester, NY, and isKodak’s main manufacturing site. TCS has been selected energymanager for steam and electric utility services, including 196megawatts of onsite electric generation capacity. TCS also willmanage all fuel procurement for Kodak Park. Transfer of operationsis expected to be in January.
“Outsourcing energy management to Trigen-Cinergy Solutions willprovide significant cost savings to Kodak, while allowing us tofocus on our core manufacturing operations,” said Leonard E. Redon,vice president, Eastman Kodak and director of Rochester areaoperations. Redon said TCS will accelerate progress in reducing theenvironmental impact of Kodak Park’s power generation facilities,contributing to the company’s goal of cutting energy use 15% by2004.
Trigen-Cinergy Solutions said it optimizes technology to cutfuel use and lower emissions up to 50% as compared to conventionalgeneration. TCS recently signed the University of Maryland CollegePark, Lafarge Gypsum, Millennium Inorganic Chemicals and SweetheartCup, among others, to address environmental issues in addition tocost savings for energy operations. TCS will hire its operatingstaff from the roster of current Kodak operating employees.
Trigen-Cinergy Solutions LLC is a joint venture ofCincinnati-based Cinergy Corp., one of the nation’s largestdiversified energy companies, and White Plains, NY-based TrigenEnergy Corp., a thermal sciences company in the United States,Canada and Mexico. Cinergy, an energy producer and marketer, isexpanding its energy services capabilities throughout NorthAmerica.
