Florida Gas Transmission tightened the imbalance tolerance from 15% to 5% Friday for an Overage Alert Day notice that had begun last Monday.

Kern River cited high linepack conditions “and the fact that banking has become a common occurrence lately over the weekends” in announcing a Friday through Sunday ban on banking gas on its system. If operationally necessary, the pipeline said it would reduce a shipper’s supplies “so they are equal to the quantity of gas that is actually being delivered.” Kern River also reported being notified by Chevron U.S.A. Production that the Carter Creek Plant will be shut down for maintenance Aug. 19-Sept. 17. During that time a portion of the Carter Creek gas will be diverted to Whitney Canyon.

Sonat reported that further investigation of an unscheduled pipeline outage just north of its Franklinton Compressor Station (see Daily GPI, July 29 ) revealed that additional pipe needs to be removed from service. This caused a further slight reduction of capacity in the upstream South Louisiana Supply Area, which took effect with the evening scheduling cycle for Friday’s gas day, which could impact any increases in interruptible receipts (A-1 and IT). Indications are that the section of line that was removed from service June 18 will still return to service in the last week in August, Sonat said. The duration of repairs related to the latest outage is not known.
