El Paso declared an Unauthorized Overpull Penalty situationWednesday, effective until further notice. System linepack wascontinuing to decline despite withdrawals from Washington RanchStorage Field, the pipeline said. It will limit scheduled volumesat underperforming interconnects to insure system integrity.

Transwestern reported experiencing a force majeure eventWednesday on Unit #3 at Station 4 in eastern Arizona and will takethe unit down for repairs today. Expected downtime was unknown asof Wednesday afternoon. Starting today, West of Thoreau capacitywill be reduced from 1,090,000 MMBtu/d to about 860,000 MMBtu/duntil further notice. Transwestern also reminded shippers it willbe performing maintenance today on the Topock Lateral and relatedfacilities, resulting in zero flow into the PG&E system atTopock.

Transco said work on its pipe replacement project on Main Line “A”between Stations 35 and 45 in East Texas (see Daily GPI, June 23) progressed more rapidly thaninitially estimated and was expected to be completed prior to thestart of today’s gas day. The pipeline began accepting nominationsthrough the segment during Wednesday’s evening cycle.

Cypress Natural Gas, a unit of El Paso Energy, extended thedeadline of an open season to July 31. The season, which began May1 to assess interest in firm service on a proposed new line,previously had been scheduled to end Friday. Cypress was formed tobuild a large-diameter pipeline from the Elba Island LNG terminalowned by Southern LNG Co. near Savannah, GA, to interconnectionswith Florida Gas Transmission in Clay County, FL; Atlanta Gas Lightin Glynn County, GA; and South Georgia Natural Gas in NassauCounty, FL. The abandonment by sale of Florida Gas Transmission facilitiesupstream of the coastal Cow Island Plant in Vermilion Parish, LA,to Unocal is expected to close Friday, after which those facilitieswill no longer be available to FGT customers.
