Due to facility damage caused by a flash fire that occurred during a welding job at its Herscher Storage Facility (see Daily GPI, Aug. 17), NGPL declared a force majeure event at Compressor Station 201 in Kankakee County, IL. Effective Thursday until further notice the Midwestern-Kankakee interconnect is unavailable, NGPL said.

Columbia Gas (TCO) said an interruption of third-party transport has reduced its capacity to move gas away from the KA Low system by 40,000 Dth/d, likely resulting in reductions to firm shippers. It noted that as previously posted, in an effort to minimize impact to firm shippers on the KA Low system during a Line P outage, TCO arranged for 40,000 Dth/d of firm transport on the Big Sandy and Tennessee pipelines for the duration of the outage. However, Big Sandy Pipeline experienced unplanned outages Tuesday at the MarkWest Langley Processing Plant and the Langley Compressor Station, and thus Big Sandy has cut TCO’s transportation to zero until further notice.

Bison Pipeline has extended the anticipated completion of force majeure-related inline inspections through next Monday. Until then operationally available capacity remains 230,000 Dth/d.

During routine offshore maintenance on Transco‘s Southeast Louisiana Lateral, a section of pipe needing additional repairs was identified. Transco said the line’s removal from service would require to make the Ship Shoal 214F and South Timbalier 217 meters unavailable for up to seven days starting Thursday. Transco said the aggregated quantity recently flowing from those locations was about 9 MMcf/d.

Gulf South reported completing unplanned maintenance Tuesday that had begun July 27 on Unit #2 at Olla Compressor Station.

Trunkline resumed accepting nominations Wednesday at the North Fresh Water Bayou Flash Gas and Vermilion 26C locations following testing at its Kaplan (LA) Compressor Station that required an outage of the Vermilion System offshore Louisiana (see Daily GPI, Aug. 10).

Due to ongoing maintenance between the Lufkin and Joaquin compressor stations in East Texas, Texas Eastern has restricted interruptible, secondary firm nominations that exceed entitlements, and a portion of primary firm nominations within entitlements sourced between Little Rock and Lufkin for delivery outside this area. No increases in nominations sourced between Little Rock and Lufkin for delivery outside this area will be accepted, the pipeline said Wednesday. In addition, 23 meters have been scheduled to zero until further notice; see the bulletin board for a list.

Northwest said current operating conditions allow it to increase Chehalis Compressor Station throughput “significantly above design,” although the pipeline cautioned that the capacity may vary from time to time based on condition changes.

Southern said since posting an Oct. 8, 2010 a notice requesting proposals for the sale of its offshore pipeline assets south of Toca Compressor Station in southeast Louisiana, it has worked with multiple interested parties to evaluate the potential for divestiture of the assets. As part of finalizing a transaction with a potential purchaser, Southern said Tuesday it will no longer accept requests for new firm service “related to the points of interest impacted by the proposed sale,” nor will it accept firm receipt point shifts into this area. Customers should direct any questions to their account manager at Southern or to Bill Morgan at (205) 325-3679.
