Kern River, which had noted low linepack in a bulletin board posting Monday morning, said its system lost an additional 50,000 Dth during that gas day. That prompted the pipeline to bar any shipper drafting in a critical notice Tuesday. Kern River said it will curtail physical flows if necessary and asked customers with due-pipe imbalances to schedule payback. In response to Kern River’s situation, Las Vegas-based Southwest Gas issued a Hold Burn to Scheduled Quantities notice effective Monday until further notice.

Because repairs of Unit No. 4 at Bertrand Compressor Station that it had expected to complete that morning did not resolve the outage, Rockies Express (REX) issued a force majeure effective with Intraday 1 nominations Tuesday. The unit went down due to a circuit breaker failure, REX had reported Monday afternoon. The pipeline said it was restricting quantities through Segment 250 to 1,780,000 Dth/d (95% of primary firm contract Maximum Daily Quantity). At this level, AOR/IT, secondary and primary FT services are at risk of not being fully scheduled, REX added.

CIG declared a Strained Operating Condition (SOC), to become effective Monday until further notice, due to a force majeure at Fort Morgan Storage Field and maintenance scheduled at varying times for its four storage facilities during the March 28-May 20 period (see the bulletin board for details). CIG said a Fort Morgan compressor unit failed March 15 when a crankshaft was damaged.

Westcoast plans nearly 10 hours of maintenance Wednesday at its Gordondale Compressor Station, during which eastbound capacity through the facility will be restricted to about 86% of firm service. If the available firm service is not fully utilized, the remainder will be available for Authorized Overrun and IT nominations, Westcoast said.

Gulf South will begin about two days of maintenance next Tuesday at its Nine Mile Power Plant meter facility in Jefferson Parish, LA. Work will be done on each meter tube one at a time; meter capacity will be limited to 130 MMcf/d with only one tube in service.

In an OFO notice, Questar said that because an April 7-20 shutdown of the Clay Basin storage facility for reservoir testing (see Daily GPI, March 11) will not allow the pipeline to inject or withdraw from its Clay Basin balancing account, it will be unable to accept any imbalance payback nominations to or from Questar during that period.
