Transportation Notes
El Paso said there will be no withdrawals from its Washington Ranch storage facility through Friday while repairs are made to the dehydration plant’s fire tube. Washington Ranch’s #2 compressor was already down for maintenance through Oct. 17, limiting injections to about 75 MMcf/d. As a result of these maintenance projects, El Paso said it has lost a large degree of operational flexibility and will impose custody limits on delivery points and/or place caps on receipt point as needed to maintain system integrity.
Trunkline reported being notified by the operator of a condensate separation facility of its inability to accept gas from Trunkline’s Vermilion Offshore System due to damage inflicted by Hurricane Rita. Trunkline said it is prohibiting nominations for the entire Vermilion system, affecting six points. Vermilion nominations may be reinstated when the separation facility is able to resume operation, the pipeline said.
Northwest reported identifying multiple segments of mainline that need to be replaced between the Rangely and Cisco Compressor Stations. The segments are in two separate valve sections and will require one 24-hour outage and one 48-hour outage to complete. The first outage is set for Oct. 13 and targets a 9-mile section just north of the Calf Canyon receipt point. During the second outage, scheduled Oct. 20-21, Northwest will work on the 15-mile section immediately south of Rangely. No physical flow will be possible through each affected section during the work, the pipeline said. In addition to the mainline impacts, the North Douglas receipt point will be shut in Oct. 20-21. Shippers were asked to note that the Sand Springs receipt point is between the cut locations, and thus gas at that point must flow north on Oct. 13 and south on Oct. 20-21. Since the south end of the mainline will be effectively isolated, Northwest said, no balancing south of the respective cut points will be allowed.
