TotalEnergies and its partners are moving forward with the front-end engineering and design process for a potential 4 million metric tons/year (mmty) expansion at the PNG LNG facility in Papua New Guinea.

After completing feasibility studies for the project, TotalEnergies disclosed Tuesday that they were progressing plans to build an additional four trains at the liquefied natural gas facility in Caution Bay. The trains would be built within the existing plant site, joining two trains operated by Papua LNG partner ExxonMobil since 2014.

TotalEnergies said the partnership has decided to pursue designs to reduce carbon emissions at the plant using electrical LNG trains and carbon capture and sequestration. ExxonMobil would be responsible for the construction and operation of the...
