Driven by gains in the Haynesville Shale, the U.S. natural gas rig count climbed three units to finish at 72 for the week ended Friday (Aug. 28), according to the latest data from oilfield services provider Baker Hughes Co. (BKR).

Offsetting the gains in natural gas-directed drilling, three oil-directed rigs exited the patch for the week, keeping the combined domestic tally at 254, 650 units behind the 904 rigs active in the year-ago period.
