Texas oil and natural gas production climbed month/month across the state during June, with most of the output coming from the Permian Basin and Eagle Ford Shale, state regulators said Friday.

In the latest preliminary statistics compiled by the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), regulators said oil production in June reached 97.53 million bbl, or on average 3.25 million b/d, while natural gas output climbed to 697,927 Bcf, or 23.23 Bcf/d. In June 2018, oil production averaged 2.96 million bbl, while gas output averaged 20.51 Bcf/d.

Production in June based on preliminary reports to RRC came from 177,420 oil wells and 89,539 gas wells.

“The RRC reports that from July 2018 to June 2019, total Texas reported production was 1.396 billion bbl of crude and 9.3 Tcf gas,” it said. Crude production reported by the RRC is limited to production from oil leases and does not include condensate, which is reported separately.

Midland County, in the heart of the Permian Basin, led for crude production in June with 11.719 million bbl. The South Texas county of Karnes, where Eagle Ford development is underway, was No. 2 at 7.898 million bbl. Reeves County in the Permian produced 6.588 million bbl, while nearby Martin reported 6.406 million bbl for the month.

At No. 6 for oil production in June was Upton County, another Permian destination, at 5.249 million bbl, followed by neighboring Howard County at 4.358 million bbl. La Salle County, another Eagle Ford hotbed, was the eighth largest oil producer at 4.278 million bbl. Rounding out the top 10 at No. 9 was Reagan, in the Permian, which produced 3.300 million bbl, and De Witt in South Texas at 3.089 million bbl.

Reeves County led the pack for condensate production in June at 4.382 million bbl, followed by Loving, a Permian county, at 1.927 million bbl. The other top five condensate-producing counties in order were Culberson in West Texas at 1.907 million bbl; De Witt at 1.438 million bbl; and the South Texas County of Dimmit at 1.090 million bbl.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration, in the latest Drilling Productivity Report, forecast Permian oil output in September would climb month/month to 4.42 million b/d from 4.35 million b/d, while Eagle Ford oil production was forecast to decline to 1.38 million b/d from 1.39 million.

EIA also is forecasting Permian natural gas production to increase month/month in September to 14.86 Bcf/d from 14.62 Bcf/d, while Eagle Ford output was forecast to decline to 6.73 Bcf/d from 6.75 Bcf/d.
