A lingering protest at a TC Energy Corp. Coastal GasLink (CGL) project construction site in northern British Columbia (BC) boiled over into a pre-dawn assault Thursday, damaging equipment, endangering workers and injuring an officer in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

“Our investigators will work tirelessly to identify the culprits and hold them accountable for their actions,” the RCMP stated. It joined the chorus of federal and provincial government officials across Canada deploring the attack

No suspects had been named early Friday.

CGL construction workers and the RCMP also grappled with native protest blockades in November.
