TC Energy Corp. announced a pair of cross-border linked western pipeline capacity expansions Friday on Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN) in the United States and Nova Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) in Canada.

The package includes C$1.2 billion ($900 million) in new NGTL facilities named West Path for 258 MMcf/d and a $335 million project called GTN XPress to carry the added Canadian exports across the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

Applications for the projects are expected to be filed in 2020, with construction expected to begin as early as 4Q2021. A target of late 2022 or early 2023 has been set for completion of the projects.

The expansions are described as responses to demand for increased market access and improved pipeline reliability on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border.
