The U.S. Senate voted 52-47 Thursday along mostly party lines to confirm Andrew Wheeler as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Sen. Susan Collins of Maine was the only Republican to oppose the nomination. Wheeler, a former lobbyist for the coal industry, previously served as EPA’s deputy, then interim, administrator.

President Trump said he wants Andrew Wheeler, who currently serves as acting administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to become the agency’s official leader, and will send Wheeler’s name to the Senate for confirmation.
