Wyoming Shut-ins Fail to Deter Ultra from 3Q Output Gains

Ultra Petroleum Corp. managed to increase its natural gas-directed organic production by 22% in 3Q2007, despite voluntarily shutting in about 12% of its production from wells in the Green River Basin of southwestern Wyoming. Now with the “probable likelihood” of an early start-up for the Rockies Express Pipeline Ltd. (REX), the company is readying to build on its growing reserves.

Anadarko Puts For Sale Sign on 155 Producing Wells in Rockies

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (APC) wants to sell its stakes in 155 producing wells on about 100,000 gross acres in the Washakie Basin of Wyoming and the Sand Wash Basin of Colorado. Total production for the fields, which are 96% weighted to natural gas, averaged 39.4 MMcfe/d net in the first seven months of the year, which is equal to nearly 5% of APC’s daily gas production in the Rockies in 2Q2007.

Anadarko, Chevron to Jointly Explore Gas-Rich West Texas Basin

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. have begun a joint exploration venture on 200,000 net mineral acres Chevron owns within the Delaware Basin of West Texas, acreage that overlaps and extends westward from Anadarko’s existing leasehold, which includes the rapidly growing Haley natural gas field. The targeted area, noted Anadarko, has already produced a cumulative 2 Tcf of natural gas.

BLM Allows Jonah Infill Drilling; EnCana to Fund New Mitigation, Monitoring Office

Up to 3,100 new gas wells will be allowed under a new infill drilling plan approved by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the Jonah Field in south-central Sublette County, WY. Operators EnCana Corp., McMurray Oil and BP America estimate that the energy project could provide 8 Tcf of additional natural gas production.
